In need of an artistic break from the career hunt she pulled out an old Singer sewing machine given to her on her 10th birthday. Her very first handbag — a classic canvas shoulder bag — seemed to have just the right mix of style and charm. A few months later the signature ‘Louise’ clutch was born and by the holidays Lauren’s bags graced the shelves of Bergdorf Goodman. Lauren Merkin has been featured in top publications including Vogue, Teen Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Lucky, WWD, and the NY Times and is carried in over 200 retail stores worldwide including Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdales. Inspired by her loyal customer base, Lauren Merkin continues to create chic, understated clutches and bags that make women feel effortlessly stylish.
